Sato Code hides its puzzles across Padua instead of inside a locked room. Crack codes street by street, with 1 hour on the clock. From $14 per guest.

Overview

Sato Code turns the centre of Padua into an outdoor escape room. Roughly a dozen clues are hidden in the streets and shops of the old town, and your team has to hunt them down, crack the codes and solve puzzles of increasing difficulty, much as you would indoors. Some clues sit in unexpected places, such as a record store or a pizzeria, and each object forms part of one larger puzzle.

The route starts at Prato della Valle and winds past the Basilica di Sant'Antonio, Loggia Amulea and the botanical gardens before ending back where it began. Alongside the well-known landmarks, the game passes spots that most visitors never notice. The whole experience takes about an hour.

This suits groups of puzzle-lovers rather than families with small children: the operator recommends active participation from the age of 13 and warns that the puzzles are genuinely hard, so you will need to work as a team. It is a private activity, meaning only your group plays. Bring brainpower, charged phones and comfortable shoes.

What To Expect From The Tour

A few practical points will decide whether this game runs smoothly for your group.

Common issues. The main limitation is difficulty: the operator itself says the puzzles are hard and not suited to young children, so families with younger kids may struggle. Each participant needs a charged smartphone with internet, which can be a problem for travellers relying on a single device or patchy data. Tickets depend on a valid phone number for SMS delivery, and the cancellation policy is strict, with no refund if you cancel less than 24 hours before the start time.

Common Questions

What is included in the price?

Your booking includes tickets for the escape room across Padua, delivered by SMS, plus the game in English, Italian or German.

Is food or drink included?

No. Nothing about food or drink appears in the inclusions. Some clues are located in places such as a pizzeria, but that is part of the game, not a meal.

Where does the game start?

It starts at Prato della Valle in Padua, and the Sato Code App guides you to the starting point. The activity ends back at the same meeting point.

Is it suitable for children?

Not for young children. The operator recommends active participation from age 13 and advises against children under 16 playing unaccompanied, because the puzzles could be too difficult.

Is it accessible for wheelchairs?

Yes, the listing states the activity is wheelchair accessible and that transportation is wheelchair accessible. Service animals are allowed and the meeting point is near public transportation. A moderate level of physical fitness is expected.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancel at least 24 hours before the start time for a full refund. Inside that window no refund is given, and changes made less than 24 hours before the start are not accepted. Cut-off times use the local time of the experience.
